Workplace Coaching

What is 'coaching' all about?

  • It involves two people working together, one-to one
  • It provides feedback on a person's strengths and weaknesses
  • It is results focused and aims to address specific issues
  • It aims to enhance performance and improve a person's skills / skill base
  • It can be both short term and long term, depending on what the goals are
  • It is essentially a non-directive form of development, where the responsibility for change and action is left with the person receiving the coaching
  • It works on both organisational and individual goals
  • It is time-bounded
  • It is a highly skilled activity
  • It invariably involves personal issues, but the emphasis is on work performance
A coach is a collaborative partner who works with the learner to help them achieve goals, solve problems, learn and develop.
